"Dancing on the Sand, or Five Kilograms of Seashells in the Backpack"
Summer is made for spontaneous trips, but sometimes my brain comes up with ideas that are a mix of sheer recklessness and absurdity. Last weekend, my girlfriends and I took off for the Dnipro River to catch the sunrise. Music, tents, romance!
Around five in the morning, inspiration struck: I absolutely had to perform a contemporary dance on the beach in the dark to a track from my favorite TV show. I cranked up the speaker, tuned out reality, and started pulling off pirouettes that would have made the seagulls jealous. I executed a dramatic tumble in the sand... only to realize that the deep zippered pocket on my favorite summer sundress had been left open.
The result? When the girls helped me up, a heap of things spilled from my pocket onto the sand: three handfuls of seashells, someone else’s dolphin keychain (I still have no idea where it came from), a tube of lip gloss, and a couple of dried seaweed strands. I may not be much of a dancer, but we certainly boosted the camp’s spirits for the week ahead!
