Someone who understands your silence

A friend asked me a strange question recently.

"What is more important in a relationship: being loved or being understood?"

At first I answered immediately.

Then I changed my mind.

And then I realized I honestly didn't know.

Because love without understanding can feel lonely.

But understanding without warmth can feel empty.

Maybe the happiest people are the ones who find both in the same person.

Someone who listens.

Someone who stays.

Someone who understands not only your words but also your silence.

Now I'm curious.
