Did you know that February 14th isn't celebrated everywhere as Valentine's Day?
While the rest of the world is preparing valentines and declarations of love, in Finland this day is called Ystävänpäivä—Friends' Day.
Here, people congratulate not only their significant other, but also those they hold dear. Without pomp. Without expectations. Without the pressure of romance. Simply warm words for those important to them.
Sounds sweet and safe, right?
But there's one interesting thing. Very often, it's friendship that fosters the strongest attraction. Many couples started out just like that—with a light, almost "harmless" greeting. With a conversation without innuendo. With friendly interest.
And then something changed.
And here's the question:
if you write to someone "in a friendly way"...
does it always remain just friendship?
Or is friendship sometimes just the beginning of a story?
